New car registration in Latvia up 50 percent in Jan-Sep

During the first nine months of this year, registration of new cars in Latvia soared by 5,905 cars or 50 percent from the same period a year ago to 17,660 new passenger cars, the Latvian Authorized Car Dealers Association reported. Toyotas that were made in 2005 and 2006 still led the registration of new cars in Latvia with 2,100 new Toyota cars registered during January-September. Volkswagen was the runner-up with 1,584 new cars, and Hyundai was third with 1,555 new cars registered in Latvia during the first nine months of this year. Further down the list was Skoda with 1,175 cars and Mitsubishi with 1,061 cars. As many as 16,680 new passenger cars were registered in Latvia in 2005, up 48 percent year-on-year. Toyota was also last year's leader with 2,067 new cars registered.
