VILNIUS 's The National Security and Defense Committee will convene on Sept. 4 to familiarize itself with circumstances behind the death of State Security Department officer Vytautas Pociunas in Belarus.
Alvydas Sadeckas, chairman of the committee, told the Baltic News Service that Pocius would be invited to the meeting to present further information.
"The issue will definitely be discussed by the committee. We will ask Pocius to present information about the situation, and we will get answers," Sadeckas said.
Pociunas, an adviser at the Lithuanian consulate general in Grodno, died mysteriously during a business trip to Brest last week. The diplomat's body was discovered next to a hotel building. He is believed to have fallen out of the hotel's ninth-story window, yet many suspect murder.
