GERD KANTER: the World Championship silver medallist
Discus has always been a popular sport in the Baltics, especially for Estonia, which boasts the World Championship silver medallist Gerd Kanter.

Last week, the 27-year-old athlete earned his country even more pride with a second-place finish at the Virgilijus Alekna competition in Lithuania. He threw the discus 65.50 meters. Lithuania’s Olympic medalist Alekna, who the championship is named after, took first place with a throw of 69.73 meters.
