Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga attended the Seventh Annual Peter Weitz Journalism Prize ceremony on June 5, where she touted the role or journalists in helping democracies.
Investigative journalism, Vike-Freiberga said, was particularly important, as it revealed facts unknown to the public.
