Skype owners start buying

TALLINN - Ambient Sound Investments, an investment group set up by the Estonian co-founders of Skype, has acquired one third of a local radio communication technology firm for 7.8 million kroons (500,000 euros).

Modesat Communications specializes in reducing equipment power requirements and increasing the capacity of communication channels and the distance of effective communication. "We are glad to be investing in a development project, the result of which can be applied in many spheres from satellite modems to Wifi and Wimax," ASI board chairman Toivo Annus said.
Modesat technology makes it possible to achieve higher efficiency of various wireless communication solutions, including satellite communication, Wifi, Wimax and radio communication used by security companies, the police and the ambulance service.
