VILNIUS - More than 100,000 euros have been raised to support the family of a Lithuanian man left severely brain damaged after being randomly attacked by a Dublin teenager, Ireland's national broadcaster RTE said in its Web site.
According to the report, the amount raised earlier this week stood at 102,586 euros. Irish police who investigated the attack set up the fund two weeks ago. Vytas Sukys, 50, was jumped near Dublin's Royal Canal in September 2004.
Today, the man cannot speak nor walk unaided.
Sukys now lives in a nursing home outside Dublin, where his wife Neringa and medical staff care for him. He was one of many Lithuanian immigrants who moved to Ireland for work.
