VILNIUS 's President Valdas Adamkus and Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis agreed at their meeting on Wednesday that relations with Belarus should proceed in a pragmatic fashion.
Bilateral relations "will continue to be normal and pragmatic amid full understanding that there were no free elections and that the Lithuanian aspiration to have free and democratic neighbors with market economy has yet to be achieved," Valionis told reporters after the meeting.
Belarus officials have accused Lithuania through the media of helping organize the protests in Minsk's central square, an accusation that the Baltic state's leadership has vigorously denied.
