Smigun wins second Olympic Gold

TALLINN 's Cross-country skier Kristina Smigun won her second Olympic Gold today in the women's 10-kilometer classical race. The Estonian stole the women's 15-kilometer pursuit on Feb. 12.

Under sleet and rain, Smigun, 28, left her closest rivals more than 21 seconds behind with a final time of 27 minutes and 51.4 seconds. She placed ahead of Norwegians Marit Bjorgen and Hilde Pedersen who finished 21.3 and 22.6 seconds behind, respectively.

Smigun has become the second Estonian woman athlete to win two Olympic gold medals. Erika Salumae won gold medals in track cycling in Seoul in 1988 and in Barcelona in 1992.
