Estonians light up in gold-medal glow

TALLINN - Estonian cross-country skier Kristina Smigun won the women's 15 kilometer event on Feb. 12. Her triumph elicited tears of joy among team members, and was the first Olympic medal for Estonia.Smigun finished the course in 42 minutes and 48.7 seconds, followed by Katarina Neumannova of the Czech Republic, who was only 1.9 seconds behind, and Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva-Abruzova in third place.Estonian leaders congratulated Smigun on her victory.
