Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas expressed satisfaction that the president has reacted in a "just way" to the situation surrounding his family business.

"The president gave a just estimation of the situation. He repeated the things I had said: first of all, there should be a legal basis, then we will be able to act," he told journalists.

On Thursday, President Valdas Adamkus said the State Property Fund, the State Audit, the Special Investigation Service and other law enforcement and regulatory bodies must exercise their powers in investigating the prime minister's family business affairs.
