Lithuania / Latvia try to ease border crossings

VILNIUS (BNS) - Lithuania and Latvia are drawing up joint proposals to simplify border crossings between the two countries.Petras Vaitiekunas, Lithu-ania's ambassador to Latvia, and his counterpart in Vilnius, Atis Sanitis, have discussed concrete details of the proposal at their Aug. 26 meeting with Saulius Stripeika, head of the Siau-liai's border police.The three officials said the situation on the Lithu-anian-Latvian border is deteriorating instead of improving, especially on weekends.
