Estonians prefer Baltics, Cyprus

TALLINN - Investments made by Estonian residents in other countries totaled 78.1 billion kroons (4.9 billion euros) as of March 31 this year, figures published by the Bank of Estonia on June 28 show.

Companies of the finance sector accounted for two-thirds of the investments, with investments also made by the public sector, the transport, storage and communications sector, the manufacturing sector and the wholesale and retail sector.
Estonian investors have mainly invested their money in Germany, Lithuania and Latvia.
Direct investments made up 18 percent of all Estonian investments abroad. Nearly 90 percent of direct investments by Estonians went to three countries - Lithuania, Latvia and Cyprus.
Foreign investments in Estonia amounted to 173.3 billion kroons as of March 31, 2004.
