Murniece to attend Parliamentary Summit of Crimea Platform in Croatia

RIGA - Saeima Speaker Inara Murniece will be attending the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform in the Croatian capital Zagreb until Wednesday, October 26, LETA was told at the Saeima press office. 

The International Crimea Platform, established n 2021, is a format for coordination and consultations on the governmental, parliamentary and expert level. 

The summit is expected to address multiple aspects of the current security situation in Ukraine, and the possibilities for national parliaments and international parliamentary institutions to make their contribution in the priority areas of the International Crimea Platform’s activity. Representatives of the participating countries' parliament will discuss the non-recognition policy, sanctions, human rights, security and freedom of shipping, as well as the economic and environmental consequences of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia. 

During her visit, Murniece will have meetings with Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic and Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada.

Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rihards Kols will also attend the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform.
