The Accountant (2016) – in cinemas on Friday, Oct. 28

Oscar winner Ben Affleck stars in the title role of  The Accountant, from director Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, Pride and Glory, Warrior).
Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most nefarious organisations. Christian uses his super math abilities to balance the books for criminal enterprises. He’s being pursued by the Treasury Department, led by Ray King (JK Simmons) and Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), and so decides to take on a legitimate client, a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

It is an exciting and multi-layered thriller that challenges audience members’ minds while entertaining them with intrigue, action, and humour, even though there are times when things don’t exactly add up.
