RIGA - Due to the arrogance taking place within the corridors of Brussels, European residents are becoming more dissatisfied, European Parliament Member Andrejs Mamikins (Harmony) told BNS in an interview.

''We are already seeing the first signals of this, including the referendum in Italy. This one of the reasons we are seeing a rise in the popularity of the far right in Europe,'' he said.

According to Mamikins, the ''old system cannot exist anymore'', which is proven by the victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidents elections.

Asked how relations between the United States and Russia will develop after Trump's victory, the MEP emphasized that every newly elected president in the United States promised to improve relations with Russia. ''We will see what happens during Trump's term in office. Let us just say I am not blinded by hope. If he is able to come to an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on just Syria, this to me would already be a huge achievement.''

Mamikins also allowed the possibility that Trump could lift sanctions against Russia.
