VILNIUS – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda will address the European Parliament in March and will present his views about Europe’s current situation and future outlook in his speech.

“Everything changed on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its illegal invasion of Ukraine. War – something unimaginable to most of us – has returned to our continent. In response to Russia’s brutal aggression, Lithuania has demonstrated strong leadership since the very beginning, supporting Ukraine and defending European values. It will be an honor for us to welcome President Nauseda in the European Parliament and to discuss our common challenges one year after the onset of the invasion,” European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said.

The European Parliament Liaison Office reported that Nauseda’s address was included in the draft agenda of the plenary session on March 14. The address and debate is expected to last from 10:30 until noon.

Nauseda will be the eighth EU state leader to take part in the European Parliament’s discussion cycle 'This is Europe', centering on exchanges and discussions focused on EU challenges and actions.
