VILNIUS - Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on Friday appointed Milda Vainiute, a law professor at Mykolas Romeris University, as justice minister in the new coalition government.
Vainiute, who is not a member of any political party, was suggested for the position by the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party.
The professor has in the past worked as a legal adviser to President Valdas Adamkus and an adviser at the President's Office during Grybauskaite's first presidential term.
