VILNIUS - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius is meeting with Mike Quigley, a member of the US House of Representatives, in Vilnius on Tuesday to discuss security and energy issues.

The meeting will focus on "bilateral Lithuanian-US relations, the security situation in the region, economic cooperation and energy policy issues", the Foreign Ministry has told BNS.

The visit by the Democratic Representative from Illinois is being organized by the US embassy in Vilnius.

Lithuania seeks an increased US military presence in the region and has imported liquefied natural gas from America. The governments of both countries criticize the Nord Stream pipeline which supplies Germany with Russian gas, bypassing Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states.
