Lithuanian appeals court supports restriction of freedom sentence against ex-KGB officer

The Lithuanian Court of Appeals on Friday rejected appeals in a case in which ex-KGB officer Ylya Vorobyov was charged with genocide for his role in the arrest of Lithuanian anti-Soviet resistance commander Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas in 1956. Court spokesperson Kristina Petrosiene told BNS that the Court of Appeals has upheld the Kaunas Regional Court's ruling, issued last year, to sentence 82-year-old Vorobyov to two years of restriction of freedom.
