VILNIUS – Ramunas Karbauskis, leader of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, says he would back the opposition's proposals to express no-confidence in Speaker of the Seimas Viktoras Prackietis over the fact that he hid information about MP Irina Rozova from the parliament's board.

"We all understand that this person cannot be in the position of the Seimas speaker," Karbausksis told the Lietuvos Rytas daily, adding that the LFGU could join their forces with the opposition on this issue.

Representing the opposition Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, Irena Degutiene, a deputy speaker of the Seimas, said the board would have made a different decision over Rozova's high-profile visit to Georgia, had it had the intelligence information on the MP the Seimas speaker had.

"Pranckietis did not warn us and put as in a bad situation. Of course, now there's a basis to express no confidence in him," she told the Lietuvos Rytas daily.

Karbauskis has been calling on Pranckietis to resign for several months now and to hand over the position to the LFGU's coalition partners, the Social Democratic Labor Party of Lithuania.
