Latvian mountaineers raise Ukrainian flag on Mount Everest

RIGA - Last week, Latvian mountaineers Juris Ulmanis and Andris Balodis raised the Ukrainian flag on Mount Everest in honor of the defenders of Ukraine, according to Ulmanis' post on Facebook.

The group included the two Latvian climbers and four climbers from Nepal, who reached the 8,848.86 meter high peak on May 17 at 11:08 a.m. local time.

Not only the flag of Latvia was raised on the summit, but also the flag of Ukraine in honor of all defenders of Ukraine.

Ulmanis has now climbed all the highest peaks in all continents.

11 mountaineers from Latvia have climbed Mount Everest to date.
