Latvian govt okays merger of Financial, Customs Police

The Latvian government at a meeting on Tuesday approved the proposal to merge the Financial Police and Customs Police to create a single Tax and Customs Police. The Finance Ministry explained that the merger of the two State Revenue Service's departments is necessary to streamline the tax authority's operations, reduce corruption risks, and increase public trust in the Revenue Service.
