RIGA - If need be, Latvia would lend a hand to Russia in the fight against terrorism, Latvian Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis (Unity) said on the morning news program of the public Latvian Television on Wednesday.

Regardless of the political background which affects cooperation, the national security agencies of both countries exchange information and, should it become necessary, Latvia will definitely help Russia, he said.

"Terrorism has no borders, and help can't be denied, no matter what," Kozlovskis said.

As reported, at least 11 people were killed and 51 have been placed in hospital after a blast in St. Petersburg subway on Monday caused by a suicide bomber related to Islamic radicals. The authorities suspect the bomber was a Kyrgyz man, who had obtained Russian citizenship.
