RIGA - Latvia and Peru plan to develop bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in digital technologies and other high value added sectors, LETA was told at the Latvian Foreign Ministry.

On Thursday, February 16, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Peru held their first political consultations in a video conferencing format.

The Latvian delegation was led by the Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate, Nils Jansons, and the delegation of Peru, by the Director General for European Affairs, Gloria Lissete Nalvarte Simoni De Isasi.

The officials discussed cooperation between the two countries, including the ways to expand their bilateral legal framework.

As he addressed the matter of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Jansons underlined the devastating impact of the gross violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity on the international order rooted in universally recognized principles and norms. Jansons commended support for Ukraine provided by Peru in the United Nations format.
