IKEA franchisee to form the digital development team in Vilnius

IKEA franchisee for Baltics and Iceland is forming a digital development team in Vilnius to speed up the digital transformation of its retail organizations in 4 countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Iceland. The goal of the team, which will consist of eight persons in the beginning, is to turn IKEA franchisee into the digital leader of retail market in Baltics and Iceland.

“The digital development team will focus on two major areas: enhancing the rewarding customer experience throughout all channels as well as growing the operation efficiency at IKEA retail organizations in the Baltic countries and Iceland. The long-term goal is to make the digital development a standard way of working for our business. Short term, we want to enhance the organization’s everyday way of working. For now we have defined already over 150 projects for reaching the digital competence”, - says Ölvir S. Sveinsson, Chief Information Officer at IKEA Baltics and Iceland.

Currently IKEA is looking for 6 members to join the team with expertise in project management, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, networking and web development to work in the office in Vilnius. According to Ö. S. Sveinsson, organization is looking for specialists in both Lithuania and other countries. The investment for the digital transformation of IKEA franchisee will reach 0,5 mio Eur first year in the 4 markets and is planned to rise to 1 mio Eur of annual investment in the coming years.

“We have already implemented successfully digital development projects both in the Baltics and Iceland, however with our new team we aim to speed up the transformation in order to fulfill the growing need of digital solutions”, - says Ö. S. Sveinsson. According to CIO, major digital projects in the pipeline are new web solutions and e-commerce integration in the Baltic countries and Iceland.
