Estonia: Party groups promise to co-operate to elect president next week

TALLINN - Chairmen of all six party groups in the Estonian parliament decided today to focus their efforts on getting the nation’s new president elected at the extraordinary sitting of the Riigikogu next week and agreed not to nominate politicians who have already campaigned for the position. Representatives of all party groups were in agreement that the next few days' joint efforts must produce the election of the president in the Riigikogu next Monday, Speaker Eiki Nestor told the media following today's meeting of the parliament's council of elders.&#...
