Costume parade on Sherlock Holmes’ birthday draws crowd in Riga

The traditional costume parade organized annually in Riga to mark birthday of Sherlock Holmes, a fictional 19th century detective created by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, drew a crowd of some 200 people on Sunday, January 8. About 20 of the most ardent fans of the stories about Sherlock Holmes, dressed up as different characters or simply Londoners of the Victorian era, participated in the costume parade.
