Check your history, guys! These ships went down AFTER WWI was over. The mines may well have been German, but the conflict the ships were involved in wasn't WWI, rather the Estonian War of Independence (versus Baltic Germans, not Germany per se, plus Bolshevik Russia) and, more broadly, the Russian Civil War.
