Thanks for your feedback. I am informed that there are OVER 214 000 Latvians now in Ireland and England. They seem to have no intention of returning. While there are about 6 (six) Irish in Latvia... I be one of those... From day one, troubles began. Despite on my passport, it states "European Union Citizen" Latvia grant me a 5 year temporary residence permit. Then advise that I am not allowed to purchase land for my horses, despite the transaction was between myself and the registered owner.
Latvia… please wake up. Encourage foreign investors. Give tax relief for the endless grief one must endure. Open an office to assist with translating the laws, if at all possible to keep up with the changes. Change attitude towards foreigners. One does not need a PhD or even MSc to see the short, medium & long term benefits to ALL.
Everyday is a challenge, not with any logic or reasoning.. but just to make life even more tough… I am tough, but there is a point were one must throw in the towel and realize… The Ship is going down.
Even Brussels seem to be hesitant and untrusting to throwing the life-line. Sad, very sad…

That is not Latvian bureacracy but a hand-me-down Soviet bureacracy. The law is an Ass, and, for some, it is still a very convenient Ass.
nd even with all that ... the country is running at a loss. Go figure!

Well William, as you have lived in the Baltics for 4 years you should realise that there is no logic to their absurd laws, rules and way of life, when I took a mortgage out I had to sign both nack and front of each paper (around 30 sheets) instead of in the UK where you just sign the last page. And now the banks are asking me to repay money if the loan to value of the mortgage is greater than 60% ... I am probably be going to leave Lithuania and will be warning all future investors to think seriously before investing in a country that seems to make up its own laws and rules on demand.
Good luck with the stud farm and I hope you dont get any more stupid problems with local laws.
